Happily Ever After
When she was little, she wished on every star
She never knew those dreams were so far
Every night she lay in bed
Sweet dreams and happy thoughts filled her head
She wished for a prince, she wished for true love
She wished every night on those stars above
Down stairs her parents worry
They have to pay the bills; they have to pay them in a hurry
Her father, just recently got laid off
Her mother’s job doesn’t pay enough
Times are hard; they are just trying to get through
But how will they make it through, no one knew
Years have past, and she still dreams of a prince
She dreams about love, and the perfect first kiss
She still thinks about the perfect life
And when her true love will ask her to be his wife
She is oblivious to the world around her
But her dreams remain the way they were
Her mother just received a phone call
The doctor called, and changed it all
He told her she has terminal cancer
She thinks of her daughter, and what she will tell her
She knows she will find out, she knows she is too smart
But this news will tear her whole world apart
There is a fine line between what’s fake and what’s real
Your world can fall apart, and the pain, you can feel
Don’t forget to laugh, don’t forget to smile
It will all get better, just wait a while
Most importantly, don’t forget who you are
And when things get rough, make a wish on that star
