Railroad Blanket This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

By
Steam-belching iron horses thundering through the rigid terrain in
the blackness of night,
their massive amber headlights warding off the demons of trepidation
rushing their precious cargo of comfort and relief
speeding through the smooth valleys formed by my toes,
carving curves around my knee caps,
blazing over the ripples of my rib cage,
into a terminus nestled deep inside my mind,
pistons hissing like threatened swans,
brakes screeching like knives slowly cutting the smoothest of glass,
engines puffing steam and forming fireworks,
illuminating the jet-black sky.

Unaware of these events,
I feel
Relaxation,
as if my flesh is melting into my doughy mattress,
Tranquility,
like a shallow lake situated deep in a dark forest,
And Inspiration
as I pull my soft
Railroad Blanket
up to my weary chin.

Really good, mind checking my work out? I'm trying to get one of my two poems in the magazine. Thanks if you do!
