Harmonious and sweet, the villanelle,
Like light replicated in a calm rhyme,
Erupts from the poet to share its tale,

Its form producing soft and tender spells.
Like the singing of distant silver chimes,
Harmonious and sweet, the villanelle

Streams through the heart, and erects an enchanting spell
From daylight and from darkness, and, movingly,
Erupts from the poet to share its tale.

It never bends into the sharp loud yell
Of vast pipe organs. Soft its climb.
Harmonious and sweet, the villanelle,

Like a tiny and transparent shell
Catching sunlight in the summer time,
Erupts from the poet to share its tale.

Soft and temperate, tender and so frail,
Like light pouring through petals,
Harmonious and sweet, the villanelle
Erupts from the poet to share its tale.

The author's comments:
We had to write poems for our English class and one of the choices was the villanelle so I decided to do my villanelle on the villanelle.
