There are much worse games to play. -the hungar games

Breath caught
body immobilized
except of a slight tremble
eyes fixated on the dark haired boy in front of me

we stood at the edge of the road
when the clouds roll in
middle of fall
not cold enough to snow
Of course it would rain

his shadow lessened
as the sun was covered
though it was only mid-day

we stood huddled and cold
hiding against the wind
our bodies so close

I stared
I waited for him to push back my hair
and lightly brush his lips against mine
but he surprised me
He took my hand gently
pulling us apart to hold it between our chests
then told me in a hushed whisper
he must go

then turned and walked away
disappearing in the sudden now pouring rain
leaving me standing
alone at the curb
knowing I wont see him again
tears slip as I start to cry

The rain masks the tears
my thin blue hoodie soaks
and weights my body down
along with the hope of us
ever being an us again

my clothes stick to my skin
and a deep chill rips through my half-numb body
as I miss his warmth
I stand in the heavy rain
without an umbrella.

I had written this in the middle of the night. It is not my own memory, nor someone I've known. But an image that a had to write about, as to not forget it.
