Haunting Eyes

With haunting eyes, she stares at her home there.
She’s the only one to watch over her siblings,
As disease took her beloved mother,
And war sent her father away.
She looks over the land, and wipes away a tear,
As all she sees is pain and suffering.
Glancing at her brother, she sees her dad,
Her sister is a spitting image of her mom.
At only ten she is too young for this job,
She should be carefree, having fun with friends,
Not worrying about food and clean water.
She wonders why this is the path He chose.
