The Rocking Horse
Dear Rocking Horse
My faithful steed
We once ruled these halls
Roaming wild and free
We fought vigorous wars
We rode around the world
All the things we’ve done before
Were never too big for this horse and this girl
But as the years went by
Our relationship had changed
I was no longer interested in fairytales
I was too concerned about painting my nails
And now as I look back at you
I remember our times together
The wind in my hair
Riding away without a care
But now your black paint is peeled and cracked
Your legs are wore down and flat
So I’m saying goodbye and letting you go
To Rocking Horse Heaven where you can run free
