If a Rose Could Understand

Petal soft skin,
Petal soft palms,
caressing as lovers do.
With eyes so delicate,
So true
So elegant
As lovers look,
They see love’s proof.

Weeds thrive
Grass grows
Twigs drop.

His roots eat the dirt
Strangle the worms and
Drink every drop of water
he eats, strangles, and drinks
His petals whither
His dark eyes soak the moon.

Morning dew drops upon
her pollen powdered face and
she decays.

Pale
Veined
Broken.

But only if a rose could understand heartbreak
