Ignorance

Please sweep the dust that blinds my eyes
All that I see are my own tainted lies
They leak from my mouth and spill to the ground
They’re useless, mere prattle, despicable sound
Hands bleeding in guilt of the crimes I have sinned
For the promises left to drift off in the wind
Somewhere I had tripped on the path to my goal
And the darkness of ignorance swallowed me whole
I stopped caring, stopped trusting the people I loved
As I made my way through they were pushed down and shoved
To the ground they would fall as I climbed towards the top
And not once I remember them tell me to stop
As my pride shined in gold and my ego grew tall
I never foresaw just how quickly I’d fall
And now stuck in this trench it’s so hard to admit
That these lies grew so fast they became mere habit
So although you were shoved it’s to you whom I plea
To lend me your hand, re-allow me to see
