Here and There
To the darkness I have wondered
Uncertainty guiding me
Rather an attempt to flee
The demolition of my half-held heart
It is here that I lose
It is here that I use
The spirit of spring has faded
In its place, fall fills my face
There’s a price for every thrill you chase
Seek not long, you’ll find you’re wrong
It is here that I lose
It is here that I use
My hands are strong, but my knees are weak
The higher you climb, the harder you fall
So I reach for the peak and land the base of a wall
My soul, o’ tried and tired, too many times left battered
It is here that I lose
It is here that I use
The illusion of opportunity, there is no escaping me
Fear of failure binds both hand and foot
A beautiful life, stained with soot
A flower above the flame, there’s no way we’re the same
