In My Weakest of Days

February 25, 2008
By Scott Hutchinson, Mason, OH

In my weakest of days
I laid alone, helpless to the helpless
The ones I dreamed of saving awaited their rescue restlessly
Who is to blame but myself?
I focus on the thoughts of my younger years
Thoughts meaning nothing now
The days with friends, the family times
The plays, the days of stardom, I was on top
The spotlight was mine
I shifted it to the needs of a helpless world
The view from the top always makes the bottom seem so feeble
I could have saved the world
I could have made a difference
Still, doing nothing, never saved anyone
And so they wait, still so eager
