New Silence

March 2, 2008
By Carmen Meyette, Belleville, ZZ

Your skin is luminescent
Like the moon
In this room
Where darkness prevails
Your eyes shed new brightness
Upon my face
In my world
You are New Light.

Your hold on me is strong
Like the weight of the ocean, holding me down
In this swaying chaos
Where order is legend
Your body
Anchoring me into Stability
In my world
You are the New Way

Your words to me
Like the wind
In this place
Of stillness
Your breath
Mingling with my breath
In my world
You are New Motion.

Your cries to me
Like pain and torture given voice
In this false comfort
Where pain is so well concealed
Your voice
Speaking to me always
In my world
You bring New Silence
