My knight in shining armour
with sword and trusty steed
climbs up the tallest tower
with the goal to rescue me

consumed in all my sorrow
with no hope of getting down
my knight in shining armour
brings a smile back from my frown

he sweeps me off my heavy feet
and carries me down the stairwell
with a triumphant smile across his face
he bids the tower farewell

my knight in shining armour
holds me tightly in his embrace
he places me on his trusty steed
and with a kiss he says, "you're safe"

he gives the steed a kick
and rides away into the sun
my knight in shining armour and I
have at last become one.

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece to represent how drastically my life changed when a very special person came into my life. He has now been my boyfriend for ten months, and we plan on spending our whole lives together. There are many meanings behind this poem. For example, the first stanza represents when he came into my life and saved me from my past. The second stanza represents how he brought me out of my loneliness and made me feel special again. The fourth stanza represents how he will always protect me and he will always be by my side. And the last stanza represents my emotions when I realized that I had finally found the man I've been looking for my whole life. Enjoy. :)
