An Ode To My Mother
Why hello, Mom
"It's so nice to see you again"
You flash back to my younger years
Baking cookies in the oven
As you cake my face in makeup
My face still feels dry
As I flash back to my younger years
Your hand was roasting
As it touched my face one Summer
Burned by the fever
Of the time I had Mono
Math was never good to me
Until this year I've barely held on
But because of your dedication this year
I'm walking out with nearly 100%
You remind me of that band at Warped Tour
You know, the one you didn't like?
You both share things in common though
Beauty, passion, strength
In what you do
I wonder about you a lot
How you know
What's best, what's safest
What's good, what's evil
Happy year without cancer, Mom
It's been a struggle and a long hike
I hope you enjoy this poem I wrote
While listening to the bands you never liked
