The Lovers’ Crusade Against Morning

January 27, 2008
By David Martorana, Honolulu, HI

Ultra-warm lip kisses
Ineffable
Like bliss with all the effability
Taken out
Sweaty heart pounding
Thump thump
Dizzy brains, dizzying
Not amusement park
Dizzy
But love-dizzy
In puddles of HAPPY
And GOOD and NICE
And summer adjectives
Then popping confusion
Like “Where did it go?”
Questioning, sadness, where?
Only pillows and sheets and bedbugs
Help me fight the morning.
