Let Me Burn
Like a chemical fire
I blaze wild and unrestrained
All who come near me feel the heat
If you touch me expect pain
To hold me is a curse
And those that try to smother me
Only make it worse
Please spare me the hurt
Of seeing you burnt
I have so little control
Trust in these words
That when the conflagration is done
And the coals, once a smoldering menace
Are as cold and dark as the ocean depths
From my kingdom of ash I’ll rise
So much like a phoenix of myth
As I soar above the clouds
I’ll look down to see the damage I’ve done
And by my tears I’ll fix what I wrought
But please don’t make me cry for you
Please just let me burn
