Source of Infection

January 17, 2008
By Emily Stickel, Valleyford, WA

Steady heartbeat
As feet pound against the pavement
Nothing but your tears
And your unsettling secrets
You choose to take the lead
To run away from love
Needing to scream
But the silence is too sickening

Falling further from the perfection that grows
Falling away from the person they used to know
Bottling the emotions of a faulty life
Leads to the collapse of the child inside

Collapsing at the source of infection
The unspoken of death buried under the soil
Tears spilling over the lids of your eyes
Unwilling to speak of the source of infection
