Didn’t I give you the reasons?
I had so many planned.
But thinking always falters
when I glance to where you stand.

Didn’t I object?
I thought I used my head.
But look at me – I’m in your arms;
my heart won out instead.

Didn’t I keep my promise?
I swore to not go back.
But love is like an enemy –
you don’t know when it attacks.

Your poem has a wonderful rhythm and flow to it. I'm impressed that you were able to maintain the rhyme and beat. However, you seemed to lose that in the last line. Perhaps it was on purpose? To make it feel out of place?
