Outside my Window

Outside my window,
what I see
will never reflect
what's really me.

I feel so trapped,
my soul is strained,
but my heart leaps on,
like grass to rain.

The bars around me
still close in,
but I'm still stuck,
within my skin.

I feel so cold,
I am so numb,
I cringe at what
I have become.

But now I feel
your loving hand
grasping mine,
and I can stand.

Away from a nightmare,
all on my own.
Nothing between us,
you sit on your throne.

I see your sweet face
and somehow I know,
your plan has expired,
I'm ready to go.

My world does not need me,
but your world still does,
I have taught my lesson,
I'm not who I was.

You free me from bondage,
my soul finally flies,
away from this body,
and away from my lies.

THIS WILL CERTIFY THAT THE ABOVE WORK IS COMPLETELY ORIGINAL. KAITLYNN TRETTER
