Oh Henry and Kit Kat, Crunchie and Mars
Nothing cheers me up like chocolate bars
Maynards and gummies are what I hope for
Every time I visit the grocery store
Gumballs and Rockets call me to succumb
And devour the candy to every last crumb
Diet is value I strive to observe
Until I eat some junk food I truly deserve
Diabetes may threaten my sugary crave
But Hershey already has me enslaved
Halloween and Christmas never fail to bring
Candy Canes, Candy Corn, Candy anything
I can’t go to sleep without several trips
To the kitchen to scavenge for All Dressed Chips
It is an addiction, I’m afraid it is true
But without candy you see, what would I do?
I have no remedy when pain fails to cease
Except a good helping of chocolate-y Reese
Twizzlers, crème eggs and chocolate doves
Candy is truly all that I love

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem when a sudden epiphany dawned upon me as I was reaching for an aero bar: "Maybe all this sugar isn't good for you". Needless to say, this realization was forgotten when I discovered a package of fuzzy peaches.
