The hangman’s noose dangles so still
Empty all these years
And yet there is a memory
That presages war
Those who stand up with all they have
For all they believe
All they can do is speak their mind
But they are punished
The world is cruel and cold and still
For goodness is rare
Justice is gone, used, no longer
Nothing can be done
The hangman’s noose dangles so still…
