Locked in a room
Trapped in a room
People come and go
I’m forced to stay
Want to be free
T’will be the death of me

The roof. The ceiling. The walls constrict
What happened to that saying?
“The sky is the limit”
Just kidding, you dimwit
Just have to continue praying

My room is open
Without my consent
To anyone and everyone
Irritants, idiots, anybody who can sit
All can enter or come

I cannot say “no deal”, there’s no chance of a repeal
Just something I learn to accept
Worth with them for a while
Grit my teeth and smile
And make sure my tongue is well kept.

And then there’s the wonderful, the admirable ones
The people I live for.
They’ll enter my room
But will have to leave soon
Oh please, please, take me with you.

At least the room could be warmer
Not kept so freezing cold
The room is cramped
Filled with commands
And I must do as I’m told

There are a few windows I occasionally see
Get a glimpse of the outside world
My want to explore
Starts deep in my core
I would love to just
Walk out of that door

Locked in a room
Trapped in a room
People come and go
I’m forced to stay
Want to be free
T’will be the death of me
