Rusted Bridges Falling Down

Her knees grate over the rough sandpaper
Leaving behind her a trail of red
Her elbows give way; her face comes crashing down
She lays like a dead animal afloat in water

Leaving behind her a trail of red
Her head twitches as she begins to rise
She no longer lays like a dead animal afloat in water
She becomes the unsteady bridge

Her head twitches as she begins to rise
Her heart beats like a stampede
She becomes the unsteady bridge
Her legs turn to rubber and she starts to shake

Her heart beats like a stampede
Her lungs have turned to sand
Her legs are pieces of shaking rubber
Her eyes are glass, tears dribble ever so slightly

Her lungs have turned to sand
Her elbows give way; her face comes crashing down
Her eyes are glassy, tears dribble faster now
Her knees grate over the rough sandpaper
