Held by Wishes

captivated by her smile,
wistful wishes for a chance.

he's liked her since naive innocence,
he's loved her more so since.
the swirl of her hair as she turns her head,
forgetting what he did or said.

her storm grey eyes reflecting the light,
how his heart swooned at that sight.
he wishes he were more appealing,
rather than the book worm, reading.

her voice like a melody, a chorus of angels.
her laughter contagious, like silver bells.
he looks at her, he falls apart.
forgetting all but his aching heart.

captivated by her smile,
wistful wishes for a chance.
if only i were a cooler guy.
but then my life would be a lie...
if only i were good at sports.
but then i'd be of other sorts...
if only...

wishes holding back his feelings.
wishes keeping him in place.
wishes keeping them from meeting.
wishes for a cuter face.

yet she glances his way,
when she thinks he isn't looking.
if only he would look my way.
if only i were better looking.

wishes holding back their feelings.
wishes keeping them in place.
wishes keeping them from meeting.
wishes for a cuter face.
