I Know a Land

I know a land where the wild sage grows
and the trees stretch to the sun.
I know a land where the sweetest wind blows
and the clearest rivers run.

I know a land where the meadowlark sings
to a sky clear, cloudless, and blue.
I know a land each morn the mist brings
and the grasses grow heavy with dew.

I know a land where the mountains of stone
ring with fragments of song.
I know a land where it's alright to be alone
yet you always know where you belong.
