IM ON MY OWN
IN A WORLD THAT’S COLD
THERE ARE NO HANDS TO HOLD
AND EVERYTHING THAT SHINES AIN’T GOLD

THIS IS A WORLD WHERE SUGAR
AIN’T SWEET
AND NONE OF THE BIRDS SING
TWEET, TWEET
CUZ THAT ONLY HAPPENS
IN DREAMS
BUT I’M SORRY TO SAY THAT THIS,
THIS IS THE REAL THING

IT’S THE STATE OF IMPRISONMENT
WHERE EVERY LIE IS TOLD
AND THE TRUTH IS ALWAYS BENT

THE PLACE WHERE THE SUN DON’T SHINE
AND YOU CAN’T PAY TO BE ON TIME

A PLACE WHERE A QUARTER
IS OLY WORTH A DIME
AND EVEN THE STRONGEST SOUL S GET TIRED

THIS IS THE STATE OF IMPRISONMENT
WHEN YOU’RE A SLAVE TO YOUR MIND
AND A GOOD PERSON IS HARD TO FIND

A PLACE WHERE THE SKY IS ALWAYS GRAY
AND YOU CAN BARELY MAKE IT ANOTHER DA
YOU’VEALREADY GIVEN UP ON FAITH
AND THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS GOD’S GRACE

A PLACE WHERE THE MIRROR DOESN’T LOOK
AT YOUR FACE
AND YOU’RE SCARED OF THE
HUMAN RACE
ALL YOU DO IS HIDE
AND ALL ALONGTHEFLOOR IS YOUR
SHATTERED PRIDE

I WAS GIVEN THE TITLE OF THIS POEM BY MY MOTHER. I IMMEDIATELY STARTED WRITING AND THIS IS WHAT I CAME UP WITH. I WANT THIS TO REACH ANY AND EVERYONE WHO IS OR FEELS BOUND BY SOMETHING. IT SET ME FREE AND I'M HOPING IT'LL DO THE SAME FOR THOSE WHO READ IT.

I that and i agree. I know how it is. I'm having a hard time getting over my ex I'll always love him. When he left he took a part of me with him. It's like I'm missing a part of me that can't be replaced.

A bit depressing, but I like it. A couple typos though.
