The Cows, the Snow, and Me
As night falls,
I trudge along a snow covered fence
Dragging my little sled,
On a quiet white hill
The dim shapes of cows,
Black, brown, and mahogany,
Stare curiously at me as I pass
Following my dark outline with their deep brown eyes
Gently huffing and snorting,
Breathing steamy sweet breath across the fence,
They start to trail behind me
Like a game of Follow the Leader
Snowflakes spiral down,
And I walk on
We’re alone in a world of white
Just the cows, the snow, and me
