Today something was lost
Lost beneath the deathly frost
Frost that seeped to the core
Core of life and still more

More than normal eyes can see
See past the pile of debris
Debris that stretches into the soul
Soul that will never again be whole

Whole, together, completely sane
Sane though, was before the pain
Pain that came without warning
Warning useless by the morning

Morning came to clear the night
Night that wouldn't free the light
Light that could have warmed the cold
Cold that won't release its hold

Hold on the heart, barely beating
Beating away while life is retreating
Retreating until its forever lost
Lost beneath the deathly frost.

This is a loop poetry and set so it is rhyming the top line with the line below it in aa-bb-cc-dd-etc fashion. I hope you enjoy it.
