We sit and ponder
in this berry sunset
watching the colors
melt where we'd met.

Our vibrant lives
still linger here.
you watch with me
on a night so clear.

Your bright eyes bare
My whitened soul.
It's all yours now-
You've made it full.

We stare at the hues
as they blend and fade.
We're drenched in color
So together we wade.

The auburn melts
into orange and gold
It makes the sky burn
And wards off the cold.

Then there is green
That mirrors your eyes.
It kisses the blue
and widens the skies.

Deep indigo fades
Into purple with ease.
They fill the heavens
Like a midday breeze.

The yellow of day
paints the sky best.
it journeys the sky
from east to the west.

The berry sunset
stains the sky bright
Enveloping the sky
'til the return of night.

This poem was inspired by a song. It almost seemed to write itself and the whole writing process was over very quickly.
