Idiot savant
Of my own imagination,
All-powerful king
Of an empty room.
She is the name on every banner,
The face on every magazine cover.
She is everything for nothing –
Complimentary cup of coffee,
Complimentary blank slate,
To project your illusions onto
For a minute,
For an hour,
For as long as you like,
Just enter your e-mail address below.
Heartache might be heartburn –
Heaven might be hell –
Venus ascending from a peanut shell,
Temporary tattoo on imitation leather,
Free sample, free love.

I think perhaps the poem was refering to the fact that when you have a crush on someone you barely know you can make up anything you like about that person and it may end up being true or not true. Though I could not fully have the meaning the author intended.

Either way I really liked the poem and/or your style of writing :)

I used to have an open mind, but my brains kept falling out.

I don't really understand this poem . . . but it's interesting!!!
