Everlasting Light

I will not surrender to the mercy of the night,
though the wind pierces me like a spear.
I will push my way to your everlasting light.

The shadows grow to devastating height,
but my courage whispers in my ear;
I will not surrender to the mercy of the night.

Giving up against my will I know not right,
even when twinkling stars cannot appear.
I will push my way to your everlasting light.

Darkness finds my terror a delight;
Not reaching you in time is my only fear.
I will not surrender to the mercy of the night.

Evil lurks around the trees to fight,
I hope that you are standing near.
I will push my way to your everlasting light.

My heart beats faster as you come into sight.
Relief runs down my face as a single tear,
I will not surrender to the mercy of the night.
I pushed my way to your everlasting light.

This poem is a Villanelle. It shows how love does not surrender and back down, but fights towards that one special someone.It could also relate to God.
