Daddy's Rainbows MAG

By Anonymous

There is a woman upstairs in my house,

and her jaundiced limbs are twisted with the

polka-dot bedsheets and she is going quietly

away from me without even a goodbye.

There is a child on the stairs in my house,

breathing the minutes away.

Her fingers are tangled in the railing ribs

and she is humming a song to drown out the silence.

There is a man downstairs in my house,

and he sees death as soft and gray and warm

and safe. His world is candy corn and clowns

and he lives there alone.

All I want to do is shake him

'til the rainbows spill out on the floor.
