   Why Mary?

Why did you leave me by the wayside Mary,
or rather why did I tie you to a lead cross
and throw you off the bridge?
Is it 'cause of these thoughts ramming around in brain,
that cause me to know too much,
and deal me the cards of pain?
Why does that John Wayne of the stars Orion
with his sword slung low stare at me from the stars above
as I walk these lonely roads?
Why is it all just too much?
I ask you why Mary, why was I never able to spell that word "God"
that you all seem to believe in so much
without first asking what the letters mean, and what they are made of anyway?
Why?
