When the all the earth was quiet And everything stood still
The angels came to take you home
Because it was God’s will.


We felt sorrow in our hearts
That it would never be the same
But through Christ Jesus we were comforted
When the angels came.


We know you were not fearful
For you were not alone.
God sent his heavenly angels
To guide you safely home.

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece of poetry for my great grandmother's funeral this past summer. She died at age 95 and had struggled for over ten years with the horrible mind disease called alzheimers. Although this was a sad time in my life, I found comfort in it knowing that she was now in a better place.
