The Scarring Of My Heart MAG

By Anonymous

   Needle and thread

Is all you were supposed to be.

But no one ever taught you how to sew.

But that is okay,

It was not your job anyway.

And then there was that circle.

Everyone walking around me.

You were there

And supposed to come to the middle when I called you.

So where were you?

Picking at a cut? A scab?

Keep doing that and it was scar.

But you probably did not know that.

And that is okay,

It was not your job anyway.

But I still gave it to you.

I thought you wanted to take part

In the stitching of my heart.

So I gave you the job.

My mistake.

Instead you scarred.

By singing about the sunshine,

And talking about young love,

You picked and picked.

With every touch, you picked.

With every whisper, you lied.

With every kiss, you loved.

And with every stitch ... you ripped ... and tore

But cared ... yet ignored.

Well thank God that it was not your job anyway.

It was not your job to stay.

But I still gave it to you.

And you took part

In the tearing of my heart.

And I forgive you.

After all, you did not know.

And I only have myself to blame.

I used you to make me happy

(When skies were grey).

I let you in

(And then you took my sunshine away.)

You brought the rain and tears

And then you left.

Because you are selfish.

The same thing you told me to be.

But I cannot be selfish with you

Because you already beat me to it.

And that is why you could not stay.

But that is okay,

It was not your job anyway.

And I know you did not mean to take part

In the scarring of my heart.
