The Spectacle Of Life This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

   Struck by light

the nucleus dilates -

crying out for darkness

Batting lashes

shutters the brightness and speaks to

a gathered gloom

Soft, salty droplets escape the

ducts of your spectacle

and race

leaving their paths behind

Their watery ways tickle

the dryness of your skin

and soon send an irritated

palm to wipe them

away

and smear the black paint

that delicately coats

each lash

light?

darkness?

Chaotic is now how it all seems

as you look in the mirror and see

a mess

and the doctor behind you

with your new pair of glasses
