Shadowed; a poem about domestic violence

July 31, 2009
By Anonymous

A shadow flickers on the wall
A woman beaten; she will fall

Amongst the sorrow
And the fear
She fights for tomorrow
Without a tear

A sickened shadow on the run
A man raised in violence is never done

Amongst the heartless,
Disturbed souls
Is a growing distress
That burns the holes

A shadow dances in the light
A child's future lost at night

Amongst the broken
and the caged
Lives the unknowing
and the brave.

This piece is about domestic violence and although is written in fiction as I have never experienced this personal tragedy in my life, this is an extremely nonfictional real nationwide problem.

I don't have ambitions or desires.
Being a poet isn't my ambition,
it's my way of being alone.

Wow.It's a real eye-opener.
