A Reflection in Glass MAG

By Anonymous

It doesn't take so much courage
to look all my faults
straight
               in the eye
as it does to Stare Them Down.

Picking through the pieces ofmyself
I have been Broken,
like a stained glass window
shattered
               byan unexpected brick,
thrown because I've been
too languid
for toolong.

And all the shards of every shade
are lying on the ground
andI'm
               Sifting Through,
collecting those I wish to keep.

Thestrangeness of this searching
suddenly strikes me,
               but we all Need it-
we all need to be broken occasionally,
(conveniently we're fragile andtransparent)
to Wake us up
to what we are, and what we want tobe.

And as I stare at the sparkling mosaic
that lies on thefloor,
I plan to Rebuild -
to fit the parts back together
               into a newand delicate pattern,
one that I can be proud of
and amazed by thebeautiful way
the light shines through
as I hold it to
the Sun.
