There I was with nothing to do
Nothing to do except think of you
I've counted the days as they flew by
On and on...yea, I cried
I cried once me and the rest for you

Here I am with nothing to do
Nothing to do except cry for you
I'm stronger now than I was before
I cry for you because you need me more
I cried once for me and the rest for you

Here I am with too much to do
Too much to do, no time for you
I'll say a prayer maybe once a day
I'll say a prayer so I know you're okay
I prayed once for me and the rest for you

Here I am with too much to do
Too much to do, no time for you
I've moved on, I'm better this way
You'll realize what you lost someday
I cried once for me and the rest for you

The author's comments:
This poem is about a teenager who is looking back at a break up that she/he had recently had. The break up had been pretty hard on the narrator, but not so much on the person. The narrator finally comes to the terms that she/he is better off. Looking back at all the times that she/he had cried, the narrator is saying 'i wasn't crying because of self-pity or because i want you back, but i cried because i care for you and you have to live with this mistake'.
