Chichis Poem
She wore a necklace as she grew
A white ball and chain I had wanted too
When her feet would scramble
And the necklace would shake
All eyes darted her way
But avoided her face
He removed her white chain
From around her premature self
When no one was around
For years the necklace made no sound
When no one was around
It tugged and pulled and ripped
Each ball fell to the floor
Bang.
Bang.
Bang.
I had wanted to wear the necklace too
But he broke it
And broke her too.
I hear the chain echo
In the wind at night
I hear the chain echo
Its silent plea
I wish I could have heard
When it mattered the most
When it needed me
