Stuck in Time

Inspired by House at Port Clyde

I feel abandoned.

I feel bare.

My windows lack purpose, empty, when they were once filled

with elegant glass panes that the sunlight danced in.

My door holds a gaping hole, left ajar

when it was once giving warm welcomes.

My ropes scatter across the dirt,

when they were once a treasure to my family.

My panels on the walls fall to pieces

when they once protected the ones I loved.

My crab traps splintered, left in a haste,

when they once were the reason my family thrived.

The wood is molding, the metal is rusting,

the walls are cracking, the roof is collapsing,

and my heart is slowly breaking, just like the rest of me,

as each year goes by.

I feel useless.

I feel hollow.

When I once felt loved.

I feel stuck in time.

Does this feeling last forever?
