Musty and moth balls,
Dust and aging wood.

Peeling wallpaper covering
thin walls.

Creaky furniture and too hot water,
midnight serenades and smoldering ashes.

Morning s'mores roasting
over citronella candles.

A sun peeks over
mountain trees,
Buckeyes sliver down
the morning creek.

Cracking paint stains
my fingers.

The author's comments:
I spend one weekend every year in an ancient cabin erected by my great grandparents. It's the happiest weekend of my life each time.
