I hate this game
This game we play
All the things we cannot say
The roads we take every day

The people we see
The person we choose to be
The actions we choose to take
And consequence of mistake

We have to move on
The embers burned now gone
Our memories are all that remain
As our hearts lay torn and broken in pain

Learning from our past
Fearful shadows pending overcast
On to new paths in life
Leaving behind all misery and strife

Three steps backwards, two steps forward
One step closer towards that elusive reward
What lurks for us at the end of the road?
The individual pieces that endlessly erode

Again, and again we await
Afraid of repeated history becoming our fate
You broke my heart, you made me care
I thought our love was true and rare

So here I lay, despising you
Wondering without want over what I should do
You were a thief
I will turn over a new leaf

I will find someone better
To share my hopeful and dire love letter
Someone deserving of my love
My love flying mercilessly above…
