April Showers

Thunder
Like a fat man laughing
Shaking the house’s
Disgruntled contents

Lightning flashes in the distance
Illuminating every tree
For a tiny instance
And then it’s dark again

Drops snake their way
Down the window
As if the day
Is in slow motion

Water drums the roof
Making a tee-tee-tee sound
And the cricket’s chirps join in
The thunder booms in the background

The toads join forces
For a tune like no other
Lightning snaps
Butterflies take cover

The air is thick
Humid
Deep
Muggy

The plants look green
Against the grey clouds
That look serene
As they huddle in the sky

A dance party is in motion
Trees tango in the fierce wind
Booming music seeps from the clouds
Drops of water
Falling

Confetti

Mini rivers navigate
Around every damp
Blade of grass

Everything else in the world
Is still
People tucked away
In their houses
Snuggled up in warm blankets
Thanking this downpour

For creating new life
For washing away anything unclean
For being Mother Nature’s soothing lullaby

This will certify that the above work is completely original
