Detentions
Middle school was a very troubling time.
No freedom, no room for error.
Running through a cornfield,
Throwing an ear of corn as far as I can.
Who knew this could result in such punishment.
Excluded from six weeks of gym class,
The only desirable class offered.
Teachers with a newfound bias towards me,
“Did you hear what Kevin did?”
Suddenly I am losing privileges,
Just because of one mistake.
A mistake that any kid could make.
