The Game
They say to you, "After this you'll be fine.
Just take this pill.
We promise it will make you feel alive."
Before you can notice
it's more than a pill.
It's more than what they said.
It's not to make you fine or alive,
It's their reason for thinking you're fine.
They try to tell you,
"Take the pill for you,
all we want is for you to be ok."
You notice then what you should have noticed before.
It's not for you,
it's not for you to feel alive.
It's for them to feel better,
so they can feel like their helping you,
so you can end their feelings of guilt.
Nothing is fine you realize,
you're not okay.
They lied to get you to bend to their will.
Now you're paying the price of your denial,
you keep lying now,
pretending you're ok for them.
They forget that you were lying before you met them,
that pretending is a game you always win in.
You say to them, as they bring you the pills,
"I'm not okay, just great at pretending,
I'm not fine,
I'm just trying to win,
to win the ultimate prize,
my soul."
Lying and pretending is your game,
and unfortunately for them,
a game you always win at.
Before they can even notice,
you've disappeared from their lives.
They should have noticed before it even began,
you're a liar, a pretender.
They should have realized when you pretend your whole life,
you have nothing to lose,
because you never had anything to gain.
For them the stakes were high.
For you there were no stakes,
because when you play a game your whole life
the only thing that matters is how long the game last.
They should have realized,
life is but a game for you.
A game were your enemy seeks to lose everything,
and you seek nothing.
"All I want is my soul back," you had said to them.
To bad for them,
for they never realized,
you didn't lose your soul or even sale it,
you gave it up to play the ultimate game,
a game to see if lies or truth wins.
Too bad they didn't realize,
their enemy was the ultimate trickster.
For when you lose and gain nothing,
the ones that play against you lose everything.
When you're pretending the name of the game is lies vs truth,
And the prize is.....
Nothing.
Too bad for them.
