This was the saddest day of all
Because someone was leaving.

It was a sunny day,
but it felt like a rainy day
Filled with heartache.

Yet it was still a joyful time
Because their son was leaving to fight
All that was evil.

As he drives away
They feel the pain begin,
Sitting at the table seeing that there is
An empty seat.
There is one less cheek to kiss at night.

Now every day they fly the flag
And pray for him all the time.
They feel pride knowing what
Their son is trying to accomplish

This is the saddest day of all
Because someone, was leaving.
