First Crush
I called out to you in the hallway
Today at school
You turned around by the archway
And winked so it’d look cool
I blushed, I’ve pushed my luck
Past where I should
But then again, it was love that struck
So I didn’t act like I normally would
I wanted to see you again, and soon
I jumped around
And walked away whistling my favorite tune
This feeling so new and profound
I wanted to scream this occurrence to everyone
But I kept mum
Which added to the daily fun
But felt like a king in a newly acquired kingdom
I was bubbling over, ready to burst
I wanted it to be true though
So I waited for you first
And then you came and said adieu
My heart was all but broken
My eyes were sad with tears
I wasn’t the one you’d chosen
Even though I’d hoped through the years
So I moved on, where I am now
Not caring why I got here
But wanting to know how
But in the scheme of life, this is only a new frontier
