Every Saturday there’s consistency in my life
At least for a moment
Believe me, I’m grateful for that moment of consistency
Being a teenager, it’s kind of hard to find.

Same uniform, same team
Different race, different course
Same rules, different competitors
I know what I have to do
It’s all on me now.
The gun shoots off and my feet know the drill.

Just as life can be thought of as a race
Beginnings are difficult
Unknown territory being trotted by the same feet
Towards the middle, you wish sometimes
That you could go back and change things.
Because you can’t always see what’s ahead of you.

As I sprint through the finish line
I come to the realization that what happened,
Happened and I can’t go back.
Maybe I’ll get another chance in life
To run this race again
But that time around it’ll be different
Because I learned.

Sometimes in life there are second chances
With relationships or bad decisions
Second chances are only positive
When one is determined
And wants change.

Consistency
Something every teenager could use more of
Here’s your second chance
Use what you’ve learned
To propel forward in this
New race.
