I woke up early
today. I am young
and hopeful. Throwing on clothes,
getting ready, running
out the door. I am young
and hopeful. On the bus
being driven to school.
Arriving at school
ready to learn. I am young
and hopeful. Eating lunch,
laughing, talking, joyful. I am young
and hopeful. Going home, tired,
sleeping, preparing for another
day. Soon I won’t be so
young and hopeful.
