Look to the Sky
Trapped in a cage of my own ambition,
Of memories and of superstition,
Calling out to friends: Just don’t leave me!
Cast out by society’s tradition,
Unable to pay my own life’s tuition,
Searching in the dark to find the key,
Masked under a false pretense,
Breathing in toxic incense,
Basking in the insipid praise of friends,
Accused but with no evidence,
Closed in by an iron fist,
In a maze that turns but never ends.
Free but under what condition,
Equipped but with no ammunition,
Nowhere I can run or go to hide,
Expected to pour out all life’s lessons,
In a thirty minute session,
Only thing to do, look to the sky.
